I have a soft spot for virtue.
Genuinity and naiveté captivate me which is what I really feel considering this ignorant St John’s filter statue.
I used it to my sibling. Her birthday celebration gets on St John’s eve and in Porto, we celebrate it as a significant holiday.
On the evening of June 23 rd, thousands of people go out to the roads to celebrate it:
- there are fireworks at twelve o’clock at night;
- people, exhilarating, strike each others’ heads with unique St. John’s hammers, blow up or with soft tops not to injure anyone;
- There is road food: grilled sardines, channel cake, hotdogs, …
She lives abroad now, so, I feel the urge to send her little pieces of home.
